Pirate Treasure Island Playground
If you have little kids, they will love exploring the sandy waterfront playground, which includes a giant pirate ship. There are park benches and tropical trees where you can relax in the shade and catch up with friends over a picnic.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for the best wildlife experience. The award-winning wildlife attraction is only a 2-minute drive away, and it features everything from koalas to crocodiles, up-close encounters, daily presentations, and hands-on activities like TreeTop Challenge.
The adrenaline-pumping experience will appeal to both children and adults. There are 80 massive TreeTop Challenges, as well as 11 insane ziplines. And, in case you missed it, the Extinction Trail at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is now open. Back in time, dinosaurs and megafauna ruled the earth.
You’ll encounter these titans as you journey through the Mesozoic Era, which lasted between 245 and 66 million years ago. Discover how they lived and the earth changed during this time. Download the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary app because you will need to use your phone’s camera to locate spotters scattered throughout the trail. Spotters will use Augmented Reality to bring Dinosaurs to life!
David Fleay Wildlife Park
David Fleay’s, a small wildlife park with a twist, is another excellent place to get close to nature. You are welcome to stroll through the peaceful surroundings and encounter some of Queensland’s natural habitats, ranging from rainforest to bushland.
You will also find some of the state’s unique and endangered species. In that regard, the park is the only place in the world where visitors can see the shy bridled nailtail wallaby, which has been thought to be extinct for over 30 years. If you have questions about the species or the park, don’t hesitate to talk to the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers.
